1. Who we are

WeldLog is operated by Ion Welding Inc. ("we", "us"). For privacy questions, contact privacy@weldlog.ca.

2. What we collect

Account information: email address, display name, and role (welder or foreman).
Weld records: job information, weld identifiers, WPS, position, notes, and review status/defect type.
Photographs: images of welds that users choose to upload.
Technical data: basic information needed to operate the Service securely (e.g. authentication tokens, log data). We use Google Analytics for aggregate usage statistics.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not upload photographs containing identifiable people or personal information unrelated to a weld record.

3. How we use it

To provide and operate the Service (storing and displaying your weld records and sign-offs).
To secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Service.
To understand aggregate usage and improve features.
To develop and improve machine-learning models, in de-identified and/or aggregated form, as described in Terms Section 5 (subject to your right to opt out).

4. How we store and protect it

Your data is stored using Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and the Service is hosted on Vercel. Email is sent via Resend. These providers process data on our behalf. We rely on access controls (including row-level security) so that users can access their own records. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data location note: Some providers store data on servers located in the United States. By using the Service you consent to your data being processed in those locations. *(Confirm actual data-region settings and update this line — this matters under Canadian privacy law.)*

5. Your rights and choices

You may:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information.
Delete your account and associated data by contacting privacy@weldlog.ca (or using in-app account deletion if available).
Opt out of having your content used for model development (see Terms Section 5).
Withdraw consent to processing, subject to legal/contractual limits; this may mean you can no longer use the Service.

We will respond to requests within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above (to operate the Service), or where required by law.

7. Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and as required by law. On deletion, we remove or de-identify your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.

8. Children

The Service is intended for use by working professionals and is not directed at children.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.
